VPLS announces today its recent recognition as one of the fastest-growing private companies in the Bay Area by the Silicon Valley Business Journal. In addition to year-over-year sales growth exceeding 100%, VPLS is also recognized as a well-rounded company that mastered the balance of providing excellent customer service, growth, and leadership, earning the company the #6 spot on the list.

Companies ranked in the Silicon Valley Business Journal lists are privately held corporations with documented revenue increases over the last three years as verified by independent auditors.

VPLS has shown consistent growth in revenue, fueled by the expansion of the company’s managed services, managed security services, bare metal solutions, and colocation services. The company has added three new locations to its global network: McKinney, Texas; Chappaqua, New York; and Singapore. The VPLS network was also recently enhanced with an expansion at one of its most popular facilities: San Jose, California (SV7). The expansion was completed to meet growing global demand for connectivity to key markets such as Silicon Valley and Asia.

This award is the latest in a series of accolades for VPLS. Recently, VPLS was also named in the Inc. 500|5000 List of America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies.

VPLS Expands Bare Metal Capacity in San Jose Facility to Meet Growing Demand for Connectivity to Key Global Markets

The data center now offers an additional 250 KW of IT load reserved for Bare Metal, offering direct connections to Silicon Valley and China

We are excited to announce today a significant expansion to the capacity of its San Jose data center (SV7). The SV7 expansion was driven by demand for VPLS’s bare metal servers brand, Krypt.com, which offers direct connections with a capacity of over 200 Gbps to China Telecom, China Unicom, and China Mobile International.

Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, the facility offers colocation, managed services, private and hybrid cloud, dedicated hosting, and network and security services to fast-growing start-ups and enterprises in Silicon Valley and the greater Bay Area. The additional capacity in the San Jose data center was achieved through an upgrade of the cooling systems, which unlocked an additional 250 KW of IT load. Replacing the aging mechanical equipment also benefitted the facility by lowering the site’s overall PUE from 2.1 to 1.35 on an annualized basis.

VPLS currently has over 600 servers in the San Jose data center with an additional 400 servers to be added over the next quarter, bringing the total number of servers in its network to over 10,000 and over 90,000 VPS under management. The IP network capacity at SV7 has also increased from 205 Gbps to more than 415 Gbps of dedicated capacity. The additional bandwidth at SV7 is a key advantage for companies looking for increased connectivity: SV7 offers direct fiber link to major carrier hotels in Silicon Valley with over 200 Gbps of peering capacity, as well as direct connections to key carriers in China, resulting in the lowest latency to Asia from the continental US.

The next stage of expansion for the San Jose facility will be an electrical upgrade of 1.5 MW and a corresponding IT load expansion that will be online in Q4 of 2022. Combined with the data center’s myriad of network carriers and partners, the capacity expansion at SV7 provides a robust option for many companies seeking a reliable and flexible interconnection between key global and regional markets. For the past 10 years, the SV7 facility has provided uninterrupted, 100% uptime to customers seeking colocation, managed services, and hosting solutions. SV7 also offers low latency connectivity to major cloud providers such as AWS and Azure.

We are excited to announce today that VPLS has completed the acquisition of its second Texas data center location (DA2). The property includes 18.8 acres of land and a 75,000 square foot, 10-megawatt facility that is currently 100% leased to a data and technology company. The acquisition provides VPLS with another modern, well-run and maintained data center as well as the property and expansion potential to support additional data center developments in the future.

The current facility supports 2.5 megawatts of critical IT load based on a 2(N+1) design and is expandable to 16 megawatts total. It is rated as a Tier III data center based on physical, electrical, and mechanical infrastructure. The highly resilient, purpose-built data center is also designed to withstand direct impact from an F3 tornado.

George Rogers, Senior Advisor to VPLS, says, “This transaction furthers the company’s strategy of acquisitions of high-quality data centers in strategic locations in order to provide critical infrastructure support to its customers.”

Arman Khalili, CEO of VPLS, adds, “The acquisition of this Texas facility demonstrates our focus on growth in key markets. As our data center and network footprint grows, VPLS can immediately deliver our cloud-to-edge solutions and services to these strategic markets and surrounding locations. We look forward to broadening our offerings to current and future VPLS clients.”

With cybersecurity threats evolving at an exponential speed and cloud infrastructure and SaaS applications growing, the need for complex security expertise is at an all-time high. To combat these threats, VPLS has dedicated a division of its Managed Security Services team to specialize in providing Security Operations Center as a service (SOC-as-a-Service). The SOC team provides customers with 24x7x365 real-time monitoring, cyber incident notification, and proactive prevention activities.

When a national trucking logistics company lost their Chief Compliance Officer, the company was at risk of being left vulnerable to costly cybersecurity threats. The organization knew they lacked the expertise required to navigate through securing their complex IT environment on their own and needed an outside expert’s services. By partnering with VPLS and implementing SOC-as-a Service, the company is now able to outsource much of their security responsibilities to VPLS, ultimately increasing their overall security posture to one with enhanced capabilities and 24×7 coverage.

VPLS’s SOC-as-a-Service is powered by security information and event management (SIEM) and eXtended Detection & Response (XDR) technology; hard-wired, wireless, and host-based intrusion detection (IDS); and continuous vulnerability monitoring so that organizations can have complete visibility to detect and respond to issues as soon as they arise.

“VPLS’s SOC-as-a-Service will appeal to security and operations teams at organizations of all sizes and stages of cloud adoption,” says John Headley, Senior Security Engineer at VPLS. “This service is especially valuable for those that are dealing with cyber skill shortages, a remote workforce, alert fatigue, and hiring and resource constraints.”
